Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
Water Meter Replacement Project Coming to Your Neighborhood

Beginning August 2025, the North Coast County Water District (District) will be upgrading its water meter system to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). AMI technology will allow our District to perform remote meter reading and will provide customers with real-time water usage data, enabling swift leak detection and improved water conservation. This project is expected to be completed by Spring 2026.
We will be partnering with Ferguson Waterworks and Professional Meters, Inc. (PMI) for the installation of the meters. You may notice Ferguson Waterworks and PMI trucks and personnel in your neighborhood before and during installation.
Benefits of the New AMI System
- Real-time water usage data, accessible through a new customer portal
- Leak detection and daily monitoring to help reduce waste
- No more waiting 60 days to see your usage; customers can log in or call the District for their latest readings
- Access to the new customer portal will be launched in April 2026, enabling customers to easily track and manage their water usage on a daily basis
What to Expect
- Customers do not need to be home during the meter replacement, and there is no cost to you.
- Installers will require access to water meters. Please remove any obstructions and vegetation around your meter box
- Each resident will receive a door hanger 48 hours before the scheduled installation
- Water service will be interrupted for approximately 20 minutes during the meter replacement.
- If you have a Flume, or other water monitoring device on your meter, it will be removed and returned to you at the time of installation
- Meters will be replaced between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday–Friday.
